Monday Money - DraftStreet Advice for Monday's NBA Games (Jan. 24, 2011)

With only two teams in action yesterday (because of the NFL playoffs), we all had a break from DraftStreet. Tonight there are 20 teams playing Monday, so it's back to "work".

Here are my thoughts on who to pick tonight:

Guards:
Tyreke Evans jumps out as someone who has been outplaying their value over the last 15 days. Evans is ranked 24th in total cost but 5th in FPPG. He might be a good pick against a banged up Trail Blazers team. You might also want to look at his back-court buddy Beno Udih. Udrih is ranked 45th in terms of cost but is scoring the 10th best FPPG over the last 15 days. I'm going to also take Nick Young, who continues to play well for the Wizards since they traded Gilbert Arenas. Young is also up against the run and gun Knicks, which could lead to a little more offense. DeMar DeRozan has impressed me over his last few games. Priced at $8,565, DeRozan might be a good look. There are plenty of quality guards going on Monday: Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Monta Ellis, Chris Paul, Steve Nash and Raymond Felton.

Forwards:
Kevin Love at $18,775 should be a good pick. Love has the highest average FPPG for Forwards over the last 15 days of the players available. I also like LaMarcus Aldridge, even though I have gone to this well a lot. Aldridge is ranked 11th in price, but is scoring 38.38 FPPG over the last 15 days and 32.7 on the season. I like Greg Monroe and Chuck Hayes still, but a super saver I might try out tonight is JJ Hickson. Hickson is $8,592 and has been a go-to offensive player for the Cavs. You can't go wrong tonight at Forward with the likes of Amar'e Stoudemire, Kevin Durant, Zach Randolph, David West, Tim Duncan, David Lee.... the list goes on and on.

Center:

We have Dwight Howard again, priced at $18,412. I think there is a better value out there if you want to put your money elsewhere, like in the Kevin's, Love and Durant. Like I often do, I might go with two C's that are worth about $9-$10k each. If I didn't have Love, I would take Darko for $10,157. If I don't take Howard, I would probably take Ryan Anderson at $10,229. I like how Marcin Gortat has played lately for Phoenix, and against Philadelphia, priced at $8,343, he could be a very good value. Spencer Hawes is also a decent player priced pretty low. JaVale McGee and Emeka Okafor could be decent values for players above $10,000 and below $12,500. But I think I'll go with Gortat and maybe try to get Dwight Howard (AND Kevin Love).

Here are two teams that I am going to use tonight:

Team 1:

G: Steve Nash $16,872
G: Beno Udrih $11,800
F: Kevin Love $18,775
F: Greg Monroe $8,502
C: Dwight Howard $18,412
C: Marcin Gortat $8,343
U: JJ Hickson $8,592
U: DeMar DeRozan $8,565

Total Price: $99,861 - $139 left on the table.

I am able to get Nash, Love and Howard. I am also able to get players who have been playing at a very high level over the last 15 days that have not had their prices reflect their play.

Team 2:
G: Tyreke Evans $14,017
G: Beno Udrih $11,800
F: LaMarcus Aldridge $15,676
F: Antawn Jamison $12,207
C: Dwight Howard $18,412
C: Darko Milicic $10,157
U: Chuck Hayes $8,959
U: Greg Monroe $8,502

Total Price: $99,730 - $270 left on the table.

With Team 2, I am able to get LaMarcus Aldridge and Howard. I am also able to get both Kings guards Evans and Udrih. I am going to the T'Wolves game tonight vs Houston so I wanted to get a couple players in that game, Darko and Hayes. I was able to score both James and Monroe.

  1. TEAM 1 scored 217.25, TEAM 2 scored 221.25... I ended up making more money than I lost last night... I tied for 3rd in a 10 person $22.00 entry league...
