LeBron James makes his debut with the Heat tonight at TD Garden in Boston. With one of the most memorable and crazy offseasons in my NBA memory, I can only hope that the season produces action that is just as exciting.
I love LeBron with the Heat. But I don't think they'll win as many games as everyone thinks. I see Miami winning 53 games, getting the 4th seed in the East and being every team's biggest playoff nightmare.
There is no way that LA doesn't kill the Western Conference. Utah might be their biggest competition, but regardless, it's going to be LA in the NBA Finals for the 4th straight year.
The Eastern Conference is not going to be given to Miami like the West is for LA. Miami has three teams that they will have to fight with: Orlando, Boston, Atlanta and Chicago. Orlando is by far their biggest threat. They have a Finals appearance under their belt and they have one of the best centers in the NBA in Dwight Howard. Boston added Shaq, but they might be too old. It will be Rajon Rondo's team and if he becomes one of the NBA's best players, which he could easily become, the Celtics could be facing LA for what would be a best of three. Atlanta has a lot of great players, they re-signed Joe Johnson so I like their chances. The thing the Hawks have over Miami and Chicago (not as much over Orlando) is team chemistry -- but I am not sure that will be enough. Chicago has some young pieces: Rose, Noah. And they also signed Carlos Boozer. They might be the one team that could out-youth Boston and play underdog against Orlando or Miami.
Playoffs:
West: LA, Utah, Houston, Dallas, OK City, Denver, New Orleans, Portland
East: Orlando, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, Milwaukee
Finals:
Los Angeles over Miami in 6
I'm looking forward to the season! Let the games begin.
