The 6th overall draft pick, Yi Jianlian, has decided he's bigger than the beer and cheese in Wisconsin and wants out of Milwaukee.
It's not a surprise, it was clear even before draft night that Yi didn't want to play for the Bucks. He didn't even work out for them. The reason that he wants to leave isn't certain, from Fox Sports:
"Tigers chief Chen Haitao denies reports that they are concerned over the Chinese population in Milwaukee, instead saying the issue is that Yi will face a lack of playing time with 7-footer Andrew Bogut already in place."
And because of this and the potential of hurting his National Team, the Chinese club are blocking Yi's move to the Bucks.
Where could Yi end up? Well, he's either going to:
A. Get the whip from David Stern and play for the Bucks.
B. Get traded to a big market: Boston, Chicago, Houston, LA, NY, Philadelphia or Sacramento. Last Friday, the Yi camp said a move to Sacramento would be acceptable. Can you imagine Ron Artest in Milwaukee? ..or..
C. Never play in the NBA because he's scared.
The Bucks retained Mo Williams which is a big step towards the Eastern Conference Playoffs because they already have Michael Redd, Charlie Villanueva and Bogut. Also, remember Bobby Simmons - the break-out player from the Clippers a few years back? He's pulling the Grant Hill in Orlando, the second Simmons signed in Milwaukee he's been nothing but potential sidelined with injury. He'll be back and I'm sure he's hungry to succeed at Small Forward. Yi is a moron. The Bucks could get as high as a 2 seed next year. I'm sick of this kid already and he hasn't even played a game.
Milwaukee is trying to fill the hole that Yi might leave. They are looking into current Hornet, former Buck Desmond Mason.
Kevin Garnett will NOT be a Timberwolf next year.
The Wolves haven't been spitting rumors around lately, but the feel from a Minneapolis standpoint is that he's gone. I'm really hoping that he'll end up going to Golden State in that deal with Brandan Wright - that seems to be the best for the Timberwolves (my hometwon squad).
The San Jose Mercury News speculated today that: " the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves have consummated a secret KG deal and are simply waiting through an NBA-mandated period before Brandan Wright can be traded." But the article goes on to say that something might not get accomplished until September or October.
Troy Hudson might be thrown into the deal because he is pleading to leave. The half-rapper half-basketball player is constantly teased on talk radio for his rap albums. The one song that talk radio people particularly like to make fun of is from the album "Love and Basketball" produced by the Nutty Boyz Entertainment label. Forgive me for not knowing the title of his own song, but he introduces himself like 4 times... "What up, What up, this is T-hud, Troy Hudson... Yo, Its Huddy... T-hud and Flowmixer" - That was my rough rough quoting of the song. I'm sure that LeBron's album will be much better.
More Rumors:
Don't be surprised if Mark Cuban pays Andray Blatche's contract next year.
The Heat are seeking a point guard, and are looking into free agents Steve Francis, Brevin Knight, Jannero Pargo and Smush Parker.
The Nets are also looking into adding Jannero Pargo. And apparently, a deal to land Jermaine O'Neal is a possibility after the Nets recently bought into a contract with Jamaal Magloire.
Brevin Knight might be the most underrated point guard ever. When healthy, he's a poor man's Jason Kidd. I like him wearing a Nuggets uni - after Steve Blake signed with Portland on Monday. Using a one-two combo of AI and Knight could boost the Nuggets in the deep West.
The Celtics think with the addition of Ray Allen, they could look to trade the Slam Dunk Champion Gerald Green.
Cleveland offered Anderson Varejao $6 million a year, he wants more like $9-10 million. Wow, Varejao isn't worth it. That's like half of what LeBron makes. Don't look for the Cavs to bring in Mike Bibby either, they can't afford it.
The Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat are both interested in Warrior Mickael Pietrus.
